Using disruption to reshape industries
Disruption has become a catchphrase buzzing around boardrooms and business forums everywhere. Any number of start-ups and tech ventures eagerly declare themselves ‘disruptive’, without considering what it really means – so what is it and how is it reshaping industries?
In its pure and unfiltered sense a disruptive model is one that shakes up an existing market and changes consumer behaviour. It’s the ability to see new opportunities and ways of thinking, and being unafraid to implement them even if it means a radical restructure of the landscape. By this definition, a business that’s disruptive is one that’s agile and responsive to change, not stuck in any one mode of operation.
